There's No Place Like Home

Click your heels 3 times! I miss my family and friends back home in the US soooo much right now, but I feel so lucky and blessed to be with my own little family! Jorden and Aveline and I have never spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day together... this will be the first time EVER! Home is where your heart is and my heart belongs to the two of them! I am so happy for Christmas to finally be here that I have sort of forgotten what I asked "santa" for... I think some clothes... some books... nothing major. Mondriaan Primary color block

I think with fashion, it is always good every once in a while to step outside your comfort zone and have some fun and possibly even feel a little strange. I am loving the clean simplicity of color blocking, and I really decided to take it back to basics with PRIMARY colors! Red, blue, yellow... with the accents of the negative colors of black and white. My inspiration was Piet Mondriaan , (later Mondrian), the Dutch artist. I have been keenly interested in his works since I was a kid. Last winter we traveled to Den Haag (The Hague) to visit the Geemente Museum particularly on an art excursion and there was an amazing exhibit on Mondriaan, Picasso and Cezanne. It was totally inspiring and very insightful. I finally came to understand the concept of his minimalism. We should talk art some day! Do you see nature in this? 111 Days 11.11 Page One

Some of the best stories are not told from the beginning. As of today I am 111 days sober and this means more to me than a lot of numbers or days. But, I have realized in the past 110 days that there are questions as to the why/when/how of it all? On the outside I seemed like I had it together and unless you were around me at some parties you probably would not have thought that i had an unhealthy relationship with alcohol. I love writing and I loved blogging, so I want to take it back to the beginning... It began with me wanting to feel different. It began with me realizing, without even being fully awake… it was like my brain was guiding me bit by bit… pointing my eyes to the mirror showing me my current self. And I questioned, with fear in my eyes and in my heart, who was it that I was seeing looking back at me?
