San Diego... I feel it in my bones

I am a Nor Cal girl... bred, but not born... I was born in Sunny San Diego, California.  Before my brother-in-law and his fiancee moved down there, I had no strong inclination to visit.  Most of my San Diego family has moved to Sacramento or to Texas.  Having new family to visit is wonderful!  Particularly because some of my youngest childhood memories are from Ocean Beach, which is where my bro and his lady have now resided for over three years.

Life in San Diego, particularly Ocean Beach is about ocean, sand, sun, shells, drinks, sandwiches, tank tops and shorts, surfers, walking your dogs.  It's a perfect getaway and we should not let a year and a half go by again without a visit.  I come home exhausted and renewed... with a strange new sense of self and relaxation.  I need to not take every single little thing so seriously.

We all needed this trip and I am so grateful Robert and Michelle let us stay with them.  I know we are family so they kinda have to (;-9) but still... we appreciate the hospitality and fun times and I am sorry about the sandbox we left in your showers!

My July!

Man oh me oh my!  I have sort of missed blogging, but honestly, I have been so busy being busy and enjoying life, it's been nice taking a break from all things super computer-involving, particularly since graduating school.

My Birthday-Graduation Party was amazing!  My mom put so much thought and effort, money and time into all the decorations.  I gave her my theme idea and she just RAN with it and made it beyond amazing.  She took all things ME and made it perfect.  The country chic thing is fairly new to me, but I feel like it's a new part of me.  I love country, sunshine, comfort foods, boots, yellow flowers, beer, bourbon and bacon.  It was the perfect party.  I was in charge of food but it was my mom and Jorden that handled all the dishing and serving and made sure everyone was eating eating eating all the good foods I made.  I really need to get better at taking photos of all the set up before I get crazy at parties with everyone.  It was an amazing celebration with family and friends and I wouldn't have traded it for any other experience.  I only wish my brother would have been here.

My actual birthday celebration was the Friday before the party and I was sad that Jorden had to work.  My parents spent nearly the entire day with me though so it was really nice.  I cooked and cleaned house for party prep most of the day, played around with Aveline, listened to music.  My parents took me out for an amazing Mexican dinner at Cha Cha's in Rocklin... it was SO GOOD! We came back home and they gave me presents and totally spoiled me even more!  Hello, new Michael Kors!

I feel so blessed and so fortunate to have so many great people in my life. I have a wonderful child, husband, parents, grandparents and extended family.  I have friends that are like sisters to me.  They make me all want to try and do better.
They ALL spoiled me... seriously, I need to do a bragass swag post to show all the great things I have been able to get with their generosity.  I feel like this summer has been so crazy and busy and I am happy about it.
More good posts to come.  I think I want to get back in the swing of things :-)

Senior Portraits...

I dundidit!  I finished college!  Class of 2003 for high school. Class of 2013 as a university graduate! It only took me 10 years, but hey, life happens!  In between having a kid, getting married, traveling Europe for 3 years, returning and settling in California, and surviving a deployment with a house, dog and kid, I managed to make it through and finish what I started!

I had such an intense sense of freedom this morning and all throughout the day.  It's like a new dawn!  No more school!  No more worrying about school or classes.  I finally did it and it is one of the coolest experiences I have ever had.  It is up there in profundity with having a kid, getting married, buying a house, living on another continent... all of these things have shaped me and helped me grow and learn and be who I am.  It might not seem like a big deal to those of you that graduated in four years, or got a Masters degree or higher... those are amazing feats.  This one is mine!

I don't know why these pictures posted so tiny, but I love them!  I had my husband take them and I edited them.  I am not walking in a ceremony or doing anything too typical of graduating college.  I just want my diploma, I want to have a big party to celebrate with my friends and family, and I wanted some fun "senior portraits" that show how exhilaratingly happy I am.  I feel so accomplished and I worked my ass... well my fingers, eyes, brain, etc. off.
It's unreal!  I am the first one in my immediate family to receive my Bachelor's degree.  My mom accomplished her R.N. within the last 4 years.  My brother is working on his degree in marketing right now.
Onto the next!  Hopefully I can find a good job and continue to do well for my family and make them proud.  I know I am super proud of myself and inside my heart is leaping!  I'm done! I finished!  I did something good in my life!  I am not second best at this.  I finished what I set out to do!
Exclamation point heavy, but can you blame me?  If you have goals, reach for them.  Don't let things like time or money or people hold you back.  You can do what you know you are meant to do, whatever it may be.
I need to thank my husband for pushing me to go back to school, when I really did not want to.  He has supported me and done everything to make my life a cake-walk.  I hope I can do the same for him some day.  My parents have been so awesome and encouraging every step of the way, and have helped me with Aveline when I have been stuck doing hours of school work.  I am so grateful for my friends who have encouraged me, dealt with my venting and encouraged me some more.  I love you all and could not and would not have done it without you all!
