Outfit: Cause love RVCA & TOMS Deseret Industries

So pulling a double posting tonight! I got lots of catching up to do.
I thought I would pop in a outfit post here as I am wearing an outfit that I am gaga over!  Yep... Vanessa does wear jeans and tees and funny flats!

Having my morning cafe au lait in my new Jack mug from Disneyland! with Roxy.

I was able to finally get my glitter TOMS!!!  support the cause and buy a pair! one for one people!  Remember I did the day without shoes?  It was an experience for sure and I had been waiting to buy a pair in person so I could try them on (my feet are odd sometimes), and my mom was awesome and purchased them for me!  She rocks and she herself has 2 pairs now!

I have also been a major lover of RVCA and have been wearing their brand since I was 17 years old.  RVCA (pronounced roo-kuh in case you didn't know) Artist Network Progam (ANP) is an awesome organization that supports artists.  I really like their mission statement:

"The RVCA Artist Network Program, commonly referred to as the ANP, is an ongoing program which aims to showcase the talent of accomplished as well as unknown artists who inspire our generation and push the boundaries of creativity; providing something of substance and culture."

"To RVCA, an artist is not someone who just paints a picture, or writes a song, but someone who is dedicated to sharing with the world their life, emotions and soul through innovative and creative ideas. RVCA and the ANP were developed to shake the very foundations of the business, by giving back to the artists and providing a voice for their creative growth."

I really have just always appreciated the fact that they support artists of all types and have been prevalent in the skate and surf community, which I have been involved in for a long time and hope to always be a part of.  I remember when they were only a tee and hat company that moved onto accessories and now higher end and more fashionable pieces for both men and women.  Their fabrics always feel amazing and last a long time.  If you ever get a chance to purchase RVCA pieces I recommend them!  Plus you will be supporting the ANP (and I know there are a LOT of you artists out there)!

I have to talk about my awesome day and why this outfit worked out well for me! First off, had our first day house hunting! Saw a few things we liked, but nothing overly amazing.  This outfit was comfortable and I felt confident in it.  It's good to be comfortable, but also look like you are not a broke joke when you are about to try to convince someone that you are able to spend upwards of 200 grand on a house... mix the pricey with the cheapy!

Also... I supported another cause today! That's 3 for me! Woohoo!!!
Thrift shopping extravaganza today at Deseret Industries with my bestie Miss Ktk... it was her first really good time thrifting and we scored!  Deseret Industries is a nonprofit, vocational rehabilitation facility and a thrift store that has about 46 stores in 7 western states.  They are supported by the Latter Day Saints Church.  I have to say it is the most organized and cheapest thrift store I have been to in a looong time.  The racks were organized and well labeled. Prices were great.  They also sell housewares and furniture and tons of books... I got some stylin goodies to show off soon!

So there you have it! My day rocked, my outfit was the shiz, I supported 3 causes in one day! now let'd leave it at that!!!  Good night peeps!

What I wore:
RVCA tee shirt. Thrifted blazer. F21 jeans. Glitter TOMS. Sunnies from Ebay. Guess earrings c/o Miss Ktk

Back from Vacation. The work begins

So I might not exactly have a real job that pays wages, but I will take payment in awesome vacations and thrifting trips!

This last week has been amazing! Amazing, amazing, amazing!  Can I say it again? Amazing! That's it!

Disneyland was incredible.  There was no other way to describe it besides it being one of the happiest days of my life to take my precious daughter to Disneyland for the first time. Disneyland is one of my favorite places in the world and she has been looking forward to it for months.  I have a zillion pictures and have to blog about some of them eventually, but editing is still in progress.

San Diego was wonderful!  I am a Sacramento girl to the core, but my beachy girl roots were born in San Diego and Ocean Beach, which is where the husband's brother and fiance' currently reside.  We got our first sunburns and tans in and enjoyed some great days on the beach and the pier...

I am back to reality though.  And honestly I am happy to try to get back in the swing of things.  School stuff starts again today (which I am not particularly stoked about, but whatever); house-hunting is in full fledged force; and blogging will be back in action, promise!!!  Bigger and better than before I hope, too.

I was totally exhausted and lacking internet for an entire week, so I have been trying to read and read and catch up on a lot of everyone's blogs!  (You all got some amazing stuff going on!)... so forgive my lack of participation and commentary, but I am still reading and loving all in full force.

Here are just a few pics from the trip... a few out of about 400!!!  I have no idea how to simplify all the ones I want to show you guys!
Anyways... stay tuned for more!

Outfit: Lean and Green

Ok, so going a little Forever 21 happy around here... I am a sucker for anything in a nice shade of green and this maxi dress for ten bucks was definitely a winner! Having the new tattoo and it being strapless was also a definite plus (and necessity for the day!).

Sorry for the over-exposed photos... been super too busy to really focus on taking good outfit pics even though I have been feeling pretty cute lately :-)

What I wore:  F21 dress, bracelet.  Blowfish sandals. Longchamp bag. NEW tattoo!!!

Gotta finish packing for SoCal!!!

Beautiful Pain

Hey everybody...
I am still sorta blog-cationing and trying to adjust to life back in America... definitely not in the swing of things yet.
Today was pretty epic though!  Got some new ink done!!!
It hurt more than anything has ever hurt, but I made it through and I am so glad I have it... it is different than any other tattoo I have and it is super special!

Here is a kind of a preview pic for your entertainment and curiosity:

Outfit: California Palms

My first outfit post in Californ-I-A!
Inspiration? Palms, soft loose clothes, sandalish shoes... I went shopping and was overwhelmed but I loved this top so much!  It had multiple things I love: black, large stripes and crochet/lace details.  The graphic print makes for awesome photos too.
Speaking of awesome photos... my dad took all of my outfit photos today in his beautiful backyard! YAY for having a photographer dad and a gorgeous new setting for photos!

What I wore:
All NEW stuff... Top from Love Culture, tank dress from F21.  Granny-ish sandal shoes from DSW.  Sunglasses from ebay.  ring from F21.

I love my new tank dress.  I am going to use it a lot because I love all of the great crop top looks but I definitely do not have the tummy for the crop tops and sometimes high waist is not the most comfortable.

Anyways...more to come hopefully from my awesome dad! (I can obviously credit myself for this one!):

I am sooo glad to be home!

We made it!!!

Why am I up all bright and chipper on this gloomy Monday morning?  Oh, because I am in California! Sorry I have been away for a few days.  We have been going non stop.  Mostly shopping of course, and eating.  Shopping and eating and talking.
I am so glad to be back in my hometown living in my old house for a while thanks to the courtesy of my parents.  We had a looooong journey...  traveling for over 30 hours was just great, but we made it and we are here by the grace of God and Goodness.
I have not gotten to see all of my friends or family yet, but I have seen my Mima, Keara and Ktk!  And I hope to start seeing a lot more.  We gotta run some errands today and I am not particularly excited because I know I am going to be tired.  I think the time difference is starting to get to me.  There are times of day I feel I should be sleeping and times like right now where I cannot sleep at all.  Oh well... I will adjust eventually.

Here are a few pics I have taken since leaving... I have not done any outfit pics yet, although I have wanted to.  I will start getting back into routine soon enough!  In shopping I have some great new things to style and share!  But outfit posting has been the least of my excitement these past few days.  Bringing Jorden back into California after 3 YEARS of being gone has been amazing!

One of the saddest days EVER... definitely bittersweet saying farewell to such amazing friends...

Best family, best friends... simple as that.

Living in the Thurgood Marshall Observation Deck for a night!

Looking on the dawn of the day we will be in California again

Stay tuned for our new adventures in California!!!!!!

Leaving on a jetplane!

I don't know when I'll be back again!

I am terrible with good byes.  I am awkward and I cry at all the wrong moments.  Honestly I am sad to leave Europe and I am sad because I will miss my friends, but I know in my heart which ones I will see again. Being in this life you can hope and try to keep in touch, but it will have to be up to us to make future visits happen... and although I did not make lots and lots of friends, I made some amazing friends.  I love them and I will miss them and I will be telling lots of stories involving them, because in reality they have been a supplemental family out here.  Life would have been lonely and sad without them for sure...

I will miss Deutschland and all the greenery and cobble and delicious food.  I will miss Turkish doners and Mezzo Mix.  I will miss all the cathedrals and museums.  I'll miss the smoothness of the autobahn and living down the street from a real castle.  I'll miss the parks and pools and all of the fests! I will miss Europe and all of the countries I have been able to visit and learn about.  I feel like I am returning home a new person.  I am more confident in myself and who I am and what I want and I NEED to keep that in mind as I transcend back into the commercialized enigma that is America.

I am leaving on a happy and fulfilled note.  Will I return to Germany? Honestly I do not know.  There is still much of Europe I have yet to see.  And I guess that's a good thing right? I am leaving without regrets of having missed anything!  I have been blessed to live here, learn language and customs and recipes of course.

I look forward to the future and moving forward in life... growing in my photography endeavors, getting Aveline into school, finishing my degree and owning a home.  Spending more time with family and friends. These are all challenges I look forward to.

To my new followers and readers, thank you for checking out my blog and I promise things won't get boring just because I don't live in Europe any more.  I have a renewed zest for life, experience and travel still and style and fashion will be evermore present!  Stay tuned for some awesome stuff in the near future.  Any Sacramento bloggers out on the town... I want to meet you!!!

So I guess that's all for now... gotta get moving and get on that plane!  Back in America TONIGHT. Back in California on FRIDAY!!!

Auf Wiedersehen!!!

Last Days: Floh Markt

I am so stressed and worn out but I am still trying to make the most of my last days here in Germany...
Last Saturday we made a point to go to our last Floh Markt to get some "souvenirs" from our host country.  In the last 3 years we have not gotten some German "essentials" such as a bier stein! Hello! Can't leave Germany without one.  I have even sent some out as gifts to family and friends.
The BX on post has some German souvenirs and lots of steins, but I really wanted to find a stein that was interesting and unique to me and Jorden.  LUCKILY we found 2!  We found a small one from Munchen with the pewter top on it and we found one without a lid.  Unfortunately I was unable to get photos of them before they got packed up, but they are so awesome and it was nice not to have to spend 80 euros each.

We love going to the markts and just seeing so much old stuff and originally I was not planning on buying any more clothing, but when I find items in cobalt, curry yellow and black mesh with mother-of-pearl buttons, all for 5,50 euros... kinda hard to resist!  Vintage clothing is definitely my type of "souvenir!"

jorden and avii diggin around

bright blue? fits me? Ja!

I kind of stole my outfit idea from my bestie Rebecca.  She wore a skirt like this in navy with a white top. I had green and black and went with that!

What I wore:
F21 top and skirt. Thrifted loafers. Longchamp bag.

I am so tired, but have loads more to do. I will try to squeeze in a couple more posts before I leave!

Montag blau

Yesterday was so intense and so crazy and so horrible (moving day, ant infested hotel room).  I was recovering from a bout of food poisoning all while getting my entire house packed up and moved. It was hectic to say the least.
The best thing about yesterday was seeing my guest post on the Citizen Rosebud and reading all of the amazing comments that people have already left!  Thank you so much, Bella!!  Her blog is amazing and her style is so cool and unique and colorful with an edge.  So definitely check it out.

So check it out and let me know what you think.  It's probably one of my favorite blogs I have written and I am so happy it is getting a lot of reads!

Gotta run... lots more to do before leaving on Thursday!

Outfit: color column

I took these photos a few days ago and have not gotten around to posting anything lately.  There is so much going on with the move, hopefully I can do a couple more posts before leaving the continent...
I liked this outfit a lot.  Back to the ol' color blocking...
I also wanted to show my new haircut styled in my more natural curl.

This is one of my favorite dresses and I love the way it looks in photos.  I love the blue and orange colors together and with the cognac leather accents and gold accessories, this is a winning combination for me!

Back to the packing and organizing!  I have some awesome goodies to show that I got from the flohmarkt today, but i'll write about that next time I think.

What I wore:
F21 maxi dress. Orange shirt from Charlotte Russe.  Sandals from H&M.  Longchamp bag.

Outfit: play clothes

Do you ever find a piece of clothing and although you can’t really change it up too much you know you will love it and do so much with it? Like play at the park. Go shopping downtown. Get your hair cut and styled. Have an impromtu photoshoot. This skirt is it! I thrifted it in the large section and thought the colors on it for being a tribal print were a little odd, but the length was great, the waist wasn’t super tight and it had pockets! I feel like I can only wear it with black or white tops but honestly I don’t care… I can switch up the shoes and style of tops and accessories. Best $3 I have spent in a whiiiile!

PS... What do you think of the new hair? I went a bit shorter... feeling a more 20's style cut!

What I wore:
Black tee, bought downtown for 3 euros.  Vintage skirt, $3. F21 Gladiator sandals and accessories.
